Select an existing healthcare program or policy evaluation or choose one of interest to you.

Review community, state, or federal policy evaluation and reflect on the criteria used to measure the effectiveness of the program or policy described.

Post an evaluation topic and a brief description of the evaluation. Discuss how social determinants impact this issue.

 Compare and contrast the growth and developmental patterns of two toddlers of different ages using Gordon’s functional health patterns. Describe and apply the components of Gordon’s functional health patterns as it applies to toddlers.

As mentioned in the lesson, for the healthcare professional to be an effective patient advocate, he or she must understand how information technology affects the patient and the subsequent delivery of care. Continue to reflect upon what does this statement means to you and your responsibilities as a future APN. Provide a brief response (100 words or less) 

 

1. Comment on this statement that is often heard: “I have practiced (or taught) nursing for many years without the need to use theory, so why do I need theory in a practice discipline?”

2. Reflect on this statement: “A scholarly discipline must engage in societal concerns, in dialogues about pressing issues, and in shaping health care reform.” Is nursing a scholarly discipline? Do nurse scholars have the same attributes as other scholars in other disciplines? What would be your assessment of the level of scholarship in nursing?
