 This week, compose the key population and ethical considerations portion of your research. In this section, address the following: 

1. Describe the key populations in your study, both the participants and the researchers. 

2. Describe any ethical considerations in relation to recruitment of the participants and your plans to address them. 

3. Explain any ethical concerns related to data collection/intervention activities (these can include participants refusing participation or early withdrawal from the study and response to any predicable adverse events) and your plan to address them.

4. Describe the treatment of data, who has access to the research data and the protection of confidential material. 

5. Explain any conflicts of interest that may arise if your study were to be implemented. 

This section of your research should be 3–4 pages in length, written in APA format with cited references.

Week 2 – Statistical Significance vs Clinical Significance

Please review the article An Overview of Statistical and Clinical Signficance in Nursing Research 

(listed in week 2) as well a view this week’s recording.  Pair up with another student(s) based on instructor instructions, being assigned a group number. Create a brief PowerPoint (or other approved media) presentation explaining:

Slide 1. The definition of Statistical Significance and Clinical Significance

Slide 2. Explain how they are individually important when looking at research.

Slide 3. Present an example, using referenced literature, of each.

Slide 4. Explain how you will utilize this difference as you review literature.

Please create a link (YouTube, Vimeo, etc) and post this recorded presentation link in the discussion board. Each person from your group needs to post in the discussion board, but the post should be titled “Group#_Significance.”

This discussion board lasts one week. Each student is expected to participating incrafting the initial post in a new thread that refers to relevant course readings, this week’s highlighted article and draws from at least one additional external reference.. Statistics play an important role in the management of health care organizations and in decision making and strategic planning. Collecting, analyzing, and utilizing data appropriately impacts financial management of the organization and the quality of patient care delivered. Decisions in clinical medicine are driven by evidence-based practice, as are those in health care management. A health care manager must understand and use evidence in making informed decisions that improve the operations and financial status of the organization as well as deliver quality of care accessible to those who need it and with consideration of the costs involved.

In this assignment, you will choose a utilization review statistic from the following list and review a research  or government publication, as outlined below.

Choose a health care statistic that health care managers would use, such as one of the following:

• Hospital-acquired condition (HAC)

• Labor and delivery suite usage
• Ambulatory surgery procedures
• Hospital death rates
• Cesarean-section rate

• Adverse drug events

Research your chosen statistic, and provide information from an outside source—such as a journal article, accreditation agency report, government site, and so forth—that discusses the health care statistic in a real-life setting or situation.

• What was the reason for the research that was performed or for the data being collected?
• What was the source of the data presented?
• What types of descriptive statistics and graphical representations of data were used?
• What were the research question(s) and the significant findings of the article?
• How could the information presented be used to inform decisions or improvements?
