First, identify a firm that would like consumers to change the attitudes of its consumers. Think about different attitude change strategies discussed in the book, then discuss strategies that could be used in an advertising or promotional campaign to bring about this change.

You should consider cost effectiveness and feasibility in your evaluation. For example, it is very difficult to change currently held beliefs. Therefore, if you suggest trying to do this, you must specify how and how realistic you expect this effort to be. Note that if you suggest heavy repetition of an advertising campaign, the firm or organization in question should have the resources to be able to afford this.

APA Format

You are free to choose any firm!

The Importance of Reflection

As we look back on 15 weeks of this course, I hope we remember that nearly all our early Experiential Education Champions (from the week 2 reading) identified Critical Reflection as a key element to Outdoor Education and broader Experiential Education.

Reflection (also referred to as Debriefing) helps us create connections between seemingly disconnected experiences and across gaps in time. By purposely pausing, during/after an experience, we can reorient our current thoughts, knowledge and emotions to the beginning of the experience, to another situation in our lives, and/or toward the future.

We can reflect on any element of the experience and gain some new understanding(s) that we can apply to future experiences.

Kolbs Reflective Cycle- (remove the narrators use of ‘teach

Please answer three guided reflection questions, and two questions that you create for yourself.

*Reflections do not have to relate directly to subject material. Review your work from the entire course, and any reading that were meaningful to you and draw any conclusions that are readily available on a personal level.

1. How did your understanding of Outdoor Education change from the first week of this course? How did your concept/perception of the Back Country change? (review your introduction from Week 1 if you need a reminder)

2. Reflecting on your academic career, would you like to see more Outdoor Education strategies practiced; in the elementary setting, in the secondary setting, in the collegiate setting? In what ways could Outdoor Educational practices be implemented at these levels? What might be the effects (positive or negative)?

3. Now What? How can you apply something that you learned to any of the following spheres-

1. Your social life

1. Family

2. Friends

2. Your Academic self

3. Your professional environment

4. Personally/Internally

4 and 5. Create two additional Reflection Questions and answer them.

Trends today (Public Policy, Social Media, Digital Entertainment, Tech, etc)

As our course draws to a close I hope we are starting to better see the sheer scope of ‘Outdoor Education’.  As we quickly and lightly scratched the surface of 10+ topics in the past few weeks I wanted to create a space for you to unpack and continue exploring any additional subject of your choosing.

Please choose one prompt below and answer in a text response.  200 Words Paper

· Explain the Advantages and Disadvantages of Social Media in relation to the field(s) of Outdoor Recreation/Education? (e.g. increased visitation/exposure v. increased incorrect usage of the space.) Optional- provide example photos as evidence to the pros and cons.

· Reflect on current representation of Outdoor Education and the Backcountry in film and television. Critically watch and analyze examples of film/series/etc and consider the impact they might have on their audiences. (Dawn Wall, Free Solo, 127 Hours, Into the Wild, Into Thin Air, Planet Earth, Blue Planet, Meru, Other Nature Documentaries/Series, Naked and Afraid, Survivor Man, Man v. Nature)

· Explore the rise of ‘Literacy’ centered education via Environmental Literacy, Ocean Literacy, Climate Literacy, Risk Literacy, etc.

HR

You work in the Human Resource department and have just been promoted to a supervisor position. Your role in this new position will be to lead your team as well as be a human resource strategic partner and resource to leaders and employees in the organization. In order to be effective in this new position, you need to learn what it means to be an effective leader. This includes understanding the foundations of leadership, your choices of leadership style, and the influence skills required in a human resource position. You have decided to research and decide what models of leadership you will use in your new position.

Leadership Development Challenge

This assignment is designed to create foundations for you in the leadership development area by discussing key elements of leadership, influence, and communication in the human resource profession. This will also set the stage for your application of these foundations in the upcoming course assignments.

Instructions

Write a 3–4 page paper in which you define leadership, influence, and communication unique to the human resource professional. You will identify two leadership theories that resonate for you as you envision your leadership style for this new position.

There are many ways to research leadership theories. The course text The Leadership Experience compiles a clear overview of current leadership theories in Chapter 1, “What Does It Mean to Be a Leader?” Using this text allows you to examine a variety of relevant leadership theories from a single source. Additional resources are also provided to supplement the course text and provide additional perspectives.

This paper should be well-organized and cover the following elements.

  • Write an introduction that outlines why you are writing this paper.
  • Describe unique characteristics of human resource leadership.
    • Introduce the unique characteristics of leadership for the human resource professional.
  • Explain how leadership theories apply to human resource leadership.
    • Select two leadership theories that resonate for you as the foundation for your leadership style and approach and explain their relevance.
  • Explain the importance of influence to human resource leadership.
    • Provide examples of how you will use this leadership information in your new role as a human resource supervisor.
    • Discuss not only how you will lead your team but how this will impact your relationships throughout the organization.
  • Write a conclusion that wraps up and summarizes your document.

Happy Assignment

For this class, you are asked to submit an individual assignment where you conduct research (using FIU online library, legitimate and credible sources of information on the Internet, and/or other legitimate and credible sources of information such as books that you own or the experts that you have access to) on how to actually be happier in life and in the workplace.

You are asked to put together a 2-page paper (a minimum of 2 pages and a maximum of 2 pages). The page limit excludes the references (i.e., the reference list at the end of your paper that includes the sources of information that you relied on). The page limit also excludes any inspiring or creative title for the paper that you may include or your personal identifiers (e.g., your name, last name, and panther ID). Because this is a 2-page paper, every single sentence that you write counts. Therefore, please make every sentence count. 🙂 Plan what you are going to write and how you are going to write it in advance so that you can easily work with the 2-page limit. Please remember that you are asked to write a 2-page paper (i.e., with a minimum of 2 pages and a maximum of 2 pages). Planning goes a long way when it comes to producing a high-quality paper and observing the parameters you are given.

Please divide your paper into two. In the first page, write about how you can be happier in your life. Then, in the second page, write about how you can be happier in your work life. Please separate these two parts under two main headings such as “HOW I CAN BE HAPPIER IN MY OWN LIFE,” and “HOW I CAN BE HAPPIER AT MY WORK LIFE.”

Please use Times New Roman, 12-font, and 1.5 line spacing (you can use single or double spacing if you prefer to do so) and type your paper in a “Word” document.

Please make sure that the content of your paper is rich as in it includes different ideas on how you can, in practice, live a more joyful life and have a more joyful experience at work (regardless of what you do for a living). Please also make sure that your paper is practice-oriented in that you provide practical ideas for yourself on how to live a more blissful life and have a more blissful experience at work. In addition, please make sure that your paper is personalized towards your own life and your own self such that the ideas that you present are very relevant to your present and/or future life and how you are planning to keep enhancing your joy and happiness in life and at work.

Make sure to include a reference list at the end of your paper where you list the sources that you relied on, ideally, using the APA format. Always be sure to cite the sources of information that you relied on so that you ethically honor others’ ideas and creativity. If you use information from a source verbatim (word by word), make sure that you put that sentence in quotation marks and include which page of the source you took the information from, not to mention the source itself. Alternatively, you can re-word the information (without changing its meaning) that you took from a source and cite, again, the exact source you took the information from (no need for quotation marks in this case). Please feel free to research into the APA format for citing references for more detailed information. Please note that getting savvier at doing research and citing the (credible and legitimate) sources of information that you relied on can help you if you would like to write your own book(s) in the future. 🙂
