3 question in HR chapter ( Human Resource Planning and Recruitment)

· Please read the Case “For Personal Financial advisors, A Small Staffing Plan with a Big Impact” at the end of Chapter 5 (page 224), “Human Resource Planning and Recruitment” available in your textbook Human Resource Management: Gaining A Competitive Advantage-Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright,11e., and answer the following questions:

1. Is a company ever too small to need to engage in human resource planning? Why or why not? Discuss whether you think Robert Reed planned his hiring strategy at an appropriate time in the firm’s growth.(Marks: 1.5)

2. Using Table 5.3, review the options for avoiding a labor shortage, and discuss how well the options besides new hires could have worked as ways for Reed to reach his goals for growth. As you do so, consider qualities of a financial-planning business that might be relevant (for example, direct client contact and the need for confidentiality).(Marks: 2.5)

3. Suppose that when Reed was seeking to hire a certified financial planner, he asked you for advice on where to recruit this person. Which sources would you suggest, and why? ( Mark:1)

Describe your awareness or lack of awareness of Uyghur experiences in Xinjiang

Instructions:

After completing this week\’s readings (i.e., a personal account of the Rwandan genocide) and the materials below, articulate your opinion of how current and future threats of ethnic genocide should be handled.

Step 1: View the following two videos describing recent events in Xinjiang China:

https://www.pbs.org/video/china-power-and-prosperity-1570223945/Links to an external site.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRS5cdcsUOcLinks to an external site.

Step 2: Read the follow article that provides a more personal account of events in Xinjiang (*a chance to hear an individual’s story, in detail). It also includes descriptions of historical and political context (*you should be able to read it without a subscription, just on a reduced screen).

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2021/04/12/surviving-the-crackdown-in-xinjiangLinks to an external site.

Step 3: Respond to the following prompt (1 page, single-spaced, 12 point font)

1. Articulate who you think is responsible for the Rwandan genocide? Colonial powers (i.e., through institutionalized discrimination)? Those who gave the orders? Those who carried out the orders? Those in Rwanda who failed to stop it? Those outside Rwanda who failed to stop it? You may assert a single choice or assert multiple layers of responsibility. Either way, pinpoint why you assign responsibility in the way(s) you do.

2.  Next, apply the question of responsibility to how the “world” should respond to present-day, unfolding events. Describe your reaction to the events with the Uyghurs in China using the following 3 prompts:

(1) Describe your awareness or lack of awareness of Uyghur experiences in Xinjiang before this exercise, include consideration for the role of media coverage and global conversation when responding to threats of genocide

(2) Describe three details that stood out to you in the above materials that shape your understanding of Uyghur experiences and/or China\’s position (i.e., what do you know now)

(3) Suggest strategies for responding to current threats faced the Uyghurs. This is an opportunity to weigh-in with your opinion.

____________

Specifically, describe your role as a consumer of journalism

Step I. As a global citizen, reflect on your ideas of how to promote quality journalism. Specifically, describe your role as a consumer of journalism.  You may also include your vision of how journalism is produced, distributed, and received. In your response, identify \’sources\’ of world news that are credible that you will rely on to inform your understanding of world events.

Step II. Broadly reflect on the some of the topics we have covered this semester and identify what YOU are particularly drawn to? I’ll list a summary here, but you may want to explore yourself since this is an abbreviated list.

Drill down to one topic of interest and be as specific as possible within the  topic. List your chosen topic: Modern Day Slavery; Trafficking_________________________________________

  • Social/Economic Development – A “Developed” Word
  • Modernization/Dependency Theory
  • Globalization/Interdependence
  • Universalism

  • Secret State of North Korea
  • Convention on the Rights of the Child

  • Interdependent and Independent Self
  • Role of United Nations

Step IIi.

Next, respond to the following questions reflecting on your role as a global citizen going forward.

Delve into your chosen area of interest:

  • Begin by identifying at least two organizations working in your area of interest. For example, if your topic is \’refugees\’ the International Rescue Committee is an active organization with a variety of information, service programs, etc. that you might want to be familiar with. If your topic is homelessness, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development might be a good resource. For this question you want to research and identify where you can go for quality information and ways to get involved in your particular area of interest. You can certainly reference your textbook as a starting point if needed – relevant organizations are listed at the end of each topical chapter.
  • After exploring the organizations you identified and some of their current efforts, describe at least one way you can be actively involved – now!

Explore how YOUR own strengths and interests contribute to social/ human/ community wellbeing, as you define it.

  • Describe your current career interests?
  • Identify and describe at least 2 existing creative projects/campaigns that intersect social welfare with your own career interests! See examples below:

e.g., If you are interested in the field of architecture or design, these are two interesting examples of community-engagement that architects have undertaken (in other words, architects using their strengths to meet the world’s needs)

Step IV

Conclude by brainstorming at least one idea of your own for how your future profession can intersect with the social welfare topic you are interested in – meaningfully and creatively!

The two links above are examples of what others have done…what’s YOUR IDEA! This is THE question of focus for your citizenship log. Offer depth of detail and consideration.
